Profile
Before embarking in Medicine Dr Akram completed his PhD in Molecular Genetics and Androgens at the University of Sydney and spent time in the USA as a postdoctoral research fellow in prostate cancer. He completed his RACGP fellowship training in the Hunter region, rural NSW where he further developed expertise in acute and chronic medicine. He enjoys all aspects of general practice with a holistic approach to patient care. His special interests include:
- Skin cancer/lesions
- Minor surgical procedures
- Men’s health
- Women’s health (sub-interest in post-menopausal therapies)
- Gut health
- Respiratory medicine
- Emergency medicine
- Chronic and complex diseases
