Profile

Professor Peter Jones is a Consultant General Paediatrician with many years of experience. He has worked in tertiary, regional, and rural locations across New South Wales and Queensland since qualifying as a consultant paediatrician in 1996. He has also worked internationally in the United Kingdom in London, in the Pacific in Solomon Islands and in the USA in New Orleans. In addition to completing his clinical qualifications Professor Jones completed a PhD in asthma and allergy and has published over 70 scientific peer reviewed papers as an academic. As an academic he established the rural clinical school and university department of rural health for the University of Newcastle, Established the Ochsner Clinical School in New Orleans for the University of Queensland and was the Dean of Bond University’s Medical School from 2011 to 2017. Most recently he has focused on clinical education and won the Australian University Award for Global Citizenship and Internationalisation based on his ongoing work in Solomon Islands.

As a clinician has worked across the breadth of general paediatrics from neonatal paediatrics through to the end of High School. He enjoys all facets of paediatric practice. He has advanced skills in managing asthma and assessing challenging infants. To meet the change in cases seen by paediatricians over the last two decades he has undertaken additional training in the assessment of early childhood development, the Diagnosis of Autism, Child and Adolescent Cognitive Behavioural therapy. He enjoys working and supporting families who have children with special needs and helps advocate for them and support them as they navigate both the health and education systems for their child. He currently looks after a large number of children with neurodevelopmental conditions including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Impairment and common mental health problems such as anxiety and Depression.

Professor Jones takes time with each appointment. This provides the opportunity for him to take the time to make an accurate assessment, answer the many questions of parents and families with the accurate documentation that is needed to ensure families can access the support they need for their child. This high level of service is only possible because Professor Jones allows 45 minutes of time for each appointment.

Please phone to make an appointment with the team at MyHealth Robina. Professor Jones does not bulk bill for his services. The initial fee to see Professor Jones is $490. (Rebate applies from Medicare with a valid GP referral)

There is a cancellation fee of $150.00 if you fail to attend your appointment.
